For the Love of Yarn!
Hello! My name is Nancy Ellen. I am excited you found my site where we can together share in the love of yarn and crochet.
I was recently asked why I enjoy crocheting so much. My immediate response was, "Because I Love, Love, Love Yarn". Later, I thought a bit longer about my answer. I should have told them how much I love the textures and the endless variety of colors. I could have said I love the possibilities of what a skein of yarn could be if given the proper attention and time. But, is that really the reason? Not completely. There are several other reasons. I enjoy crocheting…
- to RELAX. When I am stressed or worried, it keeps my mind on the repetitive motion of the crochet stitches and relaxes me. It makes me feel good about what I am doing giving me a sense of control rather than stressing about things I can’t control.
- for the finished project. The sense of accomplishment when finishing a project is wonderful. You can hold it out in front of you, examine it and feel good about what you created. It's a joy on a cold day when you can snuggle up with an afghan or use a beautiful scarf you have made.
- to create and design. Crocheting is a way to create a one of a kind project which is uniquely yours. From picking out the yarn to actually crocheting the project, it's unique to that specific project. Others may use the same pattern, but your project is made special and especially by you.
- for the enjoyment. Crocheting makes me smile. My ideal rainy day is not the reading a book. It's the dream of crocheting a project, learning a new stitch or making a gift for someone.
- to give to others. I rarely keep anything I have made. I have donated blankets to charities. I have gifted items for Christmas, anniversaries, weddings and birthdays. I have made things for others just on a whim. The gifting of projects I have made to someone gives me pleasure. All my love and prayers for the person I am giving it to is stitched into every inch of the project.
